The driver of a tractor-trailer is to blame for a three-vehicle accident that injured two people Thursday. According to reports from WFAA News, the crash happened around 9:00 a.m. on the Dallas North Tollway.

Video footage shows the tractor-trailer coming off a highway on-ramp at a high rate of speed. As it rounded the corner, the big rig began to tilt and rolled onto its side, landing on top of a car that was in the lane next to it. The truck then slid across three lanes of traffic, pushing an SUV over the center divider and into oncoming lanes of traffic where it was struck by other vehicles.

The 49-year-old driver of the car that was crushed under the tractor-trailer was taken to Parkland Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries; however, he was last listed in serious condition.  The driver of the SUV was also taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Although the driver of the tractor-trailer escaped the accident without injury, police did charge him with failure to control the speed of his truck.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) estimates that 32,000 tractor-trailer accidents, or 22.9% of all tractor-trailer crashes over a two-year period, can be attributed to driving too fast for road conditions.
